Classic Hook Echo

This is the doppler radar image from February 10, 2009. This was the tornado that hit the northern part of Oklahoma City near Edmond, OK. Doppler radar is showing a classic hook echo. As you can see at the end of the hook the color is red. A lot of times when we see images like this, it usually means a tornado is happening and is on the ground.

Tornado Warning

Tornado season has arrived a little early. A strong storm system combined with unseasonable warm weather and moisture produced at least two tornadoes in the Oklahoma City metro this afternoon. National Weather Service confirms a tornado touchdown in Edmond near Coffee Creek and Kelly. Baseball size hail was reported in Yukon and Guthrie. It felt like May in Oklahoma today.
